How it works

A public record of the pick you locked.

PICKCERT is a free public record for sports pickers. It is not a sportsbook. We don't take bets, hold money, or pay winners.

Step by step

  1. 01

Email, a password, and a handle. The handle is your public record. You confirm you are 21 or older.

  2. 02

Pick a game and a side

NFL, college football, men's college basketball, college baseball, MLB, NBA, and NHL. Spread, moneyline, or total. The line and the price are the posted numbers. A market with no posted line stays closed. A run line or puck line is a spread. Choose 1 to 5 units.

  3. 03

The posted number is the locked pick

You choose the side. The line and the price stay as the scoreboard listed them.

  4. 04

    The pick locks

The lock time is saved with a short code. If the pick changed, the code would not match.

  5. 05

    The play stays hidden

Until kickoff, other people see the lock time and the fingerprint, not the side. You can still see your own pick.

  6. 06

    The game ends

Final scores come from ESPN's public scoreboard. You don't type the result in.

  7. 07

    It settles

WIN, LOSS, or PUSH. A win pays from the American odds. A loss costs the units. A push is zero.

  8. 08

    The record updates

The pick and your profile change to the result. Losses stay. Nothing on the locked pick can be edited or deleted.

What the numbers mean

These examples are math, not a real picker's record.

Record
Wins, losses, and pushes, written W-L-P.
Example: 8-7-1 means 8 wins, 7 losses, and 1 push.
Win %
Wins divided by wins plus losses. Pushes are left out. If nothing has been decided, you see a dash.
Example: 8 wins and 7 losses is 53.3%.
Units
A unit is the stake size you chose. Each pick is 1 to 5 units.
Example: 2 units means you risked twice your usual stake.
Net units
What those stakes won or lost, added up. A win at −110 on 2 units pays about +1.82. A loss costs the units.
Example: +1.82 and then a 2-unit loss is −0.18.
ROI
Net units divided by units risked on settled picks. Pushes still count in the units risked.
Example: +1.82 net on 2 units risked is a 91 percent return on that one pick.

Why you can trust it

  • Losses stay

A bad pick is still on the profile and still in the record.

  • Kickoff closes the window

The pick has to be in before the game starts. You can't backdate a pick. A canceled game, or a postponed game still waiting 72 hours after the listed start, is VOID and stays off the record and off ROI.

Every field on a locked pick

Example label
This card is an example so you can see the parts. It is not a real picker and not a real bet.
Play
SF −1.5 is the side and the number. On a real public pick this stays hidden until kickoff.
Stamp
LOCKED before the game. After the score it becomes WIN, LOSS, or PUSH.
Odds and market
The sample price is the posted number, −110. On a real locked pick, you choose the side. You don't type a line or a price.
Units
2 units. A unit is the stake size. At −110, a 2-unit win pays about +1.82 units. That is 2 × 100 / 110.
Score
Example final: WSH 17, SF 24. San Francisco won by 7, which covers −1.5, so the result is WIN.
Lock time
The clock when the pick locked. It is not a time you type in.
Fingerprint
a91c4e0d8b21 is an example of the short code. The real code is a fingerprint of the pick. Change the pick and the code would not match. The pick cannot be changed.
